About Kim Jew
Kim Jew Photography is an Albuquerque photography studio that was started in 1976 by world famous portrait photographer Kim Jew. Kim Jew’s love of photography started in high school when he got his first camera, a Pentax 35mm camera. After graduating from Highland High School in Albuquerque, Jew was a pre-dental student at UNM, but quickly realized that pursuing his passion—photography—would bring him greater life fulfillment. Jew then attended Photography Institute of America in Atlanta, Georgia where he received his Associates of Art in Photography in 1974. “After graduating from the Photography Institute of America, Kim Jew took photographs for the Albuquerque Magazine and worked as a part-time photographer for the Tamarind Institute at the University of New Mexico; there he got his start in portraiture by photographing famous artists, such as Louise Nevelson (sculptor), Robert De Niro, Sr. (abstract expressionist painter) and Francoise Gilot (Picasso’s mistress). Kim Jew is an Honorary Commander at Kirtland Air Force Base and has also been honored for his contribution to the art by the Weems International Art Fest.
