Clothing Tips for Great Senior Portraits

As you prepare for your senior photo session, choosing the right clothing is important. To help make sure you have a great experience and get the photos you want, we’ve compiled some things you should keep in mind when choosing clothing for your senior photo.

Avoid Busy Prints

Busy prints can take away from the most important part of your photo—you. Avoid wearing clothing with loud or busy prints that could take the focus off you.

Wear Colors you Like

Most likely, the colors you like wearing look good on you. Wear those colors.

Avoid Colors that are Close to your Skin Tone

Colors that are too similar to your skin tone can end up making you look washed out in your photo.

Wear Textured Fabric

Textures are great! They can add visual interest to your picture without taking away from you.

Accessorize

Wear accessories that complement your clothing and enhance your unique style.

Wear Solid Colors

In general, solid colors photograph better than printed material. If you want to incorporate a print, go for vertical lines—they tend to be slimming and photograph well.

Avoid Sleeveless Tops

Sleeveless tops can make your arms look heavier and bigger than they are. Some people can get away with the look on film, but others can’t. Make sure you’re comfortable with how you will look in your photos.

Your senior photo session should be fun. So be sure to keep these tips in mind and bring lots of outfits as you prepare for your senior photo session.
